Honeycomb

 

honey_c.JPG (154077 bytes)Honeycomb is commonly found in coastal region where sea water sprays onto rock surface. Acidic rain water will dissolve soluble minerala and  dissolved minerals are then removed, leaving hollows on rocks.

Acidic water and chemical weathering concentrate at the hollows and make them larger. Rocks with honeycombed surface are formed
